Live Well: Drink More Water

tumbler_1024x1024

Fact about me: I’m obsessed with self-improvement and life optimization (hence my love for non-fiction “self help” books!). While I am definitely capable of contentment (and feel rather content most of the time) I love thinking about how something in my life could be done better or more effectively. With that in mind—and the words from this book still swirling around in my brain—I had an idea that I hope will appeal to you gals.

It’s simple—small, achievable, one-week challenges that help us live better, healthier, happier lives. My vision is that a new goal will be posted on the weekend and we’ll begin on a Monday, spending 5 days doing whatever the challenge is, and having the weekend following to reflect and assess if it’s something to continue doing because it makes us feel better, or something to chalk up as an experiment and leave behind. I was tempted to make this a 30-day thing, but really, even that seems like a long time! Anyone can do something tough for 5 days, right? And of course, as I said, if it’s something that is helping us to live well and we’re feeling awesome as a result, then we’ll have 5 days under our belt to kick start a brand new habit.

You in?

First up, let’s get hydrated. The challenge for the week is to up our water intake to 2-3 liters a day. I did this while I was pregnant and I swear it’s the reason why I never swelled up. These days, I struggle to remember to drink enough water, even though I know it’s important (especially since I’m still breastfeeding). To help me remember to drink enough water, I’m planning to use my trusty 1L BKR water bottle, but of course that’s not a requirement. Whether it’s leaving yourself post-it notes all over the place, buying a pretty new water bottle, or setting an alarm on your phone to remind you, do whatever is most motivating to you to sip on more H20.

Here’s to hydration!

P.S. I’m going to start a hashtag for this new series so we can all share images as we do the challenges and make small steps toward living better. Be sure to use #TBNlivewell when you share snapshots of you getting hydrated this week!

I haven’t been drinking a much water as I should be so… Challenge accepted! Doing a one week mini challenge will hopefully be the kick in the pants I need. And this seems so much more attainable than a month-long program. Ill be using post-its and a 1L Nalgene to track my progress :)
    Cheers!

I too love the nonfiction “self help” category! That’s all I have on my kindle! I’m in…albeit 2 days late.
