I know that’s true for me, at least! These are some of my absolutely favorite suits for the season (I already own number 8 and am adding numbers 1 and 7 to my wish list!). 1 // Victoria’s Secret Mesh Inset Triangle & Mesh Low-Rise Bottom I absolutely love the high-rise cut of the top, with subtle mesh for a hint of sexy. The bottoms have a hint of sheer mesh around the waistband to tie it all together, but the top could also be easily paired with any kind of black bottoms. 2 // J.Crew Ruched Underwire Top & High-Waist Brief Shown in Vibrant Flame, his adorable French-inspired suit comes in all kinds of colors, including Bright Azure, Vivid Spearmint and Deep Hyacinth. 3 // Nanette Lepore Riviera Goddess Maillot The embroidery on this one-piece really makes it stand out. I also love the little dip in the neckline, and that the halter strap is removable. 4 // Lenny Niemeyer Geo-Floral Maillot A one-strap one-piece is both modest and flirty—especially ...]]> 5 One-Piece Swimsuit Roundup Wed, 26 Jun 2013 12:00:00 +0000 I recently discovered that men view women in bikinis as objects, not as people. Sad as that is, it doesn’t completely surprise me. After all, bikinis leave very little to the imagination and put the focus (whether it be from men or women) on our bodies, rather than our personalities. While I’m not quite ready to completely ditch my bikinis for good, I do feel inspired to embrace the one-piece much more this summer. After so much positive feedback from you guys on Instagram, I purchased a super classy (and comfortable!) one-piece that I’m looking forward to bringing on my upcoming vacation. For all of you out there who are looking to try out a more modest (and chic!) look with your swimwear this summer, this post is for you! A round-up of my favorite one-piece styles from around the web, I’m sure that you’ll find at least one that suits your shape as well as your price point… 1 // Merona Women’s One-Piece Swimsuit in Black ($39.99) 2 // Merona Women’s One-Piece Swimsuit in Red ($39.99) 3 // ASSETS by Sara Blakely Women’s One-Piece Swimsuit ($49.99) 4 // One Shoulder Ruffle One-Piece Swimsuit ($29.99) 5 // ASSETS by Sara ...]]> 0 The Evolution Of The Swimsuit Sat, 22 Jun 2013 12:00:00 +0000 0 8 Retro-Inspired Summer Swimsuits Thu, 09 May 2013 12:00:00 +0000 Below is an article I did for Glitter Guide this week, featuring 8 retro-inspired swimsuits that are chic, modest, and perfect additions to our swim wardrobes this summer. Scroll down to read it in full, and check out the original on Glitter Guide’s website. Summer is coming, and you know what that means—swim season! While the thought of trying on swimsuits might be a difficult one to entertain at the moment, we’re thrilled that modest swimwear is back in style! We love the extra coverage that retro and vintage styles offer—not to mention, they’re just as sexy as modern bikinis (and often more stylish!). Pair one of these stunning suits with a wide-brimmed floppy hat for an ultra-chic, classic summer look! Tory Burch Solemar One-Piece ($225) This timeless and elegant one-piece is quite figure-flattering, thanks to the open-weave trim and balconette-style underwire top! Victoria’s Secret Firm Control Retro One-Piece ($158.50) This suit offers a classic silhouette with a figure-shaping fabric that keeps everything in its place! Kushcush Lovey Jumper One Piece ($165) This jumper style is refreshingly looser than most one-piece styles today. We love how the tie-waist adds definition and keeps the whole suit feeling feminine. Rather than the expected photoshopped and overly-thin model, H&M has opted to put a stunning, glowing, healthy woman front and center in their beachwear photo shoot… The best part of all of this—the girl pictured is not called “plus size,” which is possibly one of the most annoying fashion terms, since it usually indicates that a woman is over a size six (yep, size six—that means I could be a plus-size model). UPDATE: the clothes she is wearing are in fact for H&M+, which is their “plus size” line, but there is still a small victory here—the fact that this beautiful woman is featured on the main H&M page for swimwear, and not labeled as “plus size” until you click through to purchase the clothing. I want to jump around and dance for joy that slowly but surely the brands are picking up what we—the consumers—really want and celebrating different body types as truly, radiantly beautiful. Cheers to you, H&M! I will continue to buy your exceptionally ...]]> 0
