Lately, I’ve found a great little morning routine that take just a few minutes to do and leaves me fresh-faced for the day—a good thing during warmer—and sweatier—summer months. You’ll notice there isn’t any mascara shown, and that’s because I tend to skip it in the summer for a really natural look. If I had to recommend a product, though, I’d say try Clinique Lash Power Feathering Mascara in brown (unless you have really dark hair). It’s the most natural-looking mascara I’ve found and it doesn’t clump. Here’s a peek at my little routine… ARGAN OIL // When I wake up in the morning, I wipe my face with a damp wash cloth and apply argan oil immediately. Alternatively, if I take a shower, that’s my first step in moisturizing once I’m dried off. I love how light it is on the skin while also being ultra moisturizing. It’s been a good moisturizer for me during my dry skin days and my more oily pregnancy skin days. I’d recommend it to anyone, though if you’re wanting it to feel really ...]]> 0 6 Lemonade Recipes You’ll Love Wed, 07 Aug 2013 15:15:00 +0000 0 Happy 4th Of July! Thus, while Brian was away on a business trip yesterday, I dedicated my evening to finding at least one pair that I loved. Since I’ve tried on everything at Target already, I knew I needed to start elsewhere—and LOFT is where I ended up. At first, I was pretty excited and filled with anticipation for my discovery of a fabulous pair of summer bottoms. As I wondered the store, I picked up one pair after another until my arms felt like they were going to break. I probably brought in one of every single pair of shorts in the store into my dressing room—there wasn’t even enough space to hang or lay out everything I had in there with me. With the exception of one romper, every single item was a pair of shorts. As I tried on pair after pair, I started to feel a little dejected. These ones are too small. These ones are too long. These ones are made for people without backsides (and I am definitely a girl with a backside). It ...]]> 6 Striped Summer Dress Roundup Wed, 12 Jun 2013 12:00:00 +0000 Growing up, I spent every single summer near Cape Cod with my parents, aunts, uncles and cousins. We dug for quahogs, scooted around on the boat, and played on the beach until the sun set or we were called in for dinner. As a result, I am obsessed with all things nautical. Shells, anchors, sand, waves and stripes all remind me of the sunshine days of my youth, spent nearly entirely in a swimsuit and smelling like salt and sand. As summer approaches rapidly, I have nothing but Cape Cod on the brain. Thus, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite striped dress finds from around the web in hopes that I can help match you with your new favorite nautically-inspired outfit this season. I love seeing real faces, real eyelashes and real, minimally styled hair—don’t you? Personally, my routine these days is pared-down to it’s bare minimum: letting my hair air dry (except for my bangs, which I blow dry), swiping on a bit of bronzer, and giving my eyelashes a little curl with an eyelash curler. For nice occasions, like a date night or a wedding, I put my hair up in a braided bun or curl it with a curling wand, and sometimes add a swipe or two of natural mascara. Here are just a few looks that are inspiring me lately and reminding me that it’s beautiful be ourselves, plus my personal favorite summer beauty items at the bottom of the post… Gwyneth Paltrow has the most amazing natural look going on lately. Featured endlessly in her new cookbook, It’s All Good, she looks healthy, fresh-faced and radiant. I love the natural-looking texture of her hair and her light eyelashes so much! That being said, here are some grown-up summer looks from J.Crew Factory that I absolutely adore… What are your grown-up summer looks like?
