In addition to hunting down the perfect changing table, dresser and rocker, I’m on the hunt for art prints to give the room some personality. For a while, I was getting hung up on having a clear theme, but have realized that I just need to approach decorating in the same way I would any other room. There doesn’t need to be a theme, per se, but rather an overall vibe I’m after and ideally a color scheme to work with. The plan right now is to stick with neutrals—surprise, surprise! I’ll likely paint the walls grey, stick with white furniture, and make it playful and adorable with art on the wall. At the moment, I’m looking at nursery art prints from Minted but absolutely cannot decide. Will you help me? These are the four finalists… 1 // Nautical Monogram 2 // Family Tree Rings 3 // Unique Fishy 4 // Animal World Map What do you think? Which one should I choose?!? P.S. I know I should have this urge to nest and all, but the task is a bit daunting for a perfectionist like me. I want the room to be just right for Jack, and also feel cohesive with the decor in the rest of our home, but I haven’t quite decided what that looks like exactly. As someone who desperately needs ideas from other people (though I love personal style, I am not one to come up with brilliant decor plans on my own, that’s for sure), I’ve done a lot of exploring on the interwebs and am glad to report that there is some really good nursery inspiration out there. Whether you’re decorating a nursery in your own home, have a friend who is expecting and struggling with inspiration as much as I am, or have major baby fever and can’t get enough baby stuff in your life, here are several sources of good nursery ideas that I’m loving at the moment… Ivie Baby Nurseries Pinterest Board My friend Mary Beth introduced me to the Ivie Baby Shop last week and I became an instant fan of ...]]> https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2014/06/nursery-inspiration.html/feed 2 Backyard Overhaul https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2014/01/backyard-overhaul.html https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2014/01/backyard-overhaul.html#comments Tue, 21 Jan 2014 16:57:09 +0000 https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/?p=3358 Despite the fact that we’ve lived in our house for over a year now, I haven’t shared a ton with you about our space. Blame it on the perfectionist in me, but I just can’t bring myself to snap photos and share them until I feel like everything is done. I can, however, share my plans with you for the different ways I plan to make our house feel completely ours. Exhibition number one: our backyard. When we first moved in, my parents so generously gifted us a landscaped backyard (as shown above) since what was there was pretty sad looking. It’s been wonderful to have so far and having it as a baseline has helped us figure out exactly what we’re hoping for in the long run. Our biggest concerns long-term are these: 1. Having a comfortable place to sit and sip coffee in the morning 2. Creating a space that promotes conversation and connectedness when people come over 3. Ensuring that it looks really pretty :) So, with that in mind, here are our big ideas for change in 2014… COMFY SEATING + NICE COFFEE TABLE This is our number one priority. So much so, that we went ...]]> https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2014/01/backyard-overhaul.html/feed 4 Lindsay Letters Turns One https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2013/11/lindsay-letters-turns-one.html https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2013/11/lindsay-letters-turns-one.html#comments Sat, 02 Nov 2013 12:00:57 +0000 https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/?p=2108 In honor of the shop’s first birthday, Lindsay Letters is offering free shipping on orders made through Sunday using the code LL1STBIRTHDAY!! There is something crisp, clean and classic about the combination of the two, and when softened with gold, tan and brown details, it creates a beautiful neutral look as opposed to a cold modern look. What’s inspiring you decor-wise at home lately? With Natalie’s posts on whole and natural eating, and especially snippets from Paltrow’s It’s All Good, fresh produce is a big deal around here (and quite honestly, essential for healthy living). But maybe you’ve hesitated to plant a garden because you live in the city with more concrete than soil to contend with, or you feel like your thumb is no hue of green in the slightest, or you think about planting when the season has passed, or you have no idea where to even begin. Let me tell you a little secret: Until this season, I have never had a vegetable garden. I waiver in my ability to care for plants. I tend to over water. And I am still learning how to navigate through soil (and what exactly are annuals?) But, perhaps just like you, deep down in the very core of who I am there is this voice that wants to be a self-proclaimed gardner. ...]]> https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2013/06/raised-garden-bed-diy.html/feed 0 Grounded On The Daily Giveaway Winner https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2013/06/grounded-on-the-daily-giveaway-winner.html https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2013/06/grounded-on-the-daily-giveaway-winner.html#comments Mon, 10 Jun 2013 21:15:00 +0000 http://hellonatalieblog.com/2013/06/10/grounded-on-the-daily-giveaway-winner/ > Keep in touch! I discovered Nicole Santo’s Etsy shop, Grounded On The Daily, in April after posting a photo I found on Pinterest that was actually one of her hand-illustrated prints. Read on to learn more about the heart behind Nicole’s Etsy shop, as well as how you can win two hand-illustrated prints (BONUS: there’s discount code at the end of the post!)… Grounded On The Daily started as a Tumblr blog and a daily way to be creative with two of Nicole’s favorite things—quotes and watercolor (two of my favorite things, too!). According to Nicole, “Quotes are something that everyone connects to and a way to remember to stay grounded. Life is an adventure and it helps to be reminded daily to simply be thankful, to be happy and to just simply live.” Her shop is dedicated to hand-illustrated watercolor prints that are both beautiful and inspiring—and this week you have a chance to win your choice of two prints from the Grounded On The Daily shop! These are just a few ...]]> https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2013/06/giveaway-grounded-on-the-daily-hand-illustrated-prints.html/feed 1
