When my editor at Glitter Guide asked me to take on their upcoming post featuring Old Navy active wear, I was super excited, because what girl doesn’t want an excuse to get new, cute workout clothes? I really can’t think of a more fun assignment than to shop, style and snap photos, so needless to say I had a pretty fun week. Morgan from Morgan Ashley Photography was so kind to be my photographer for the day, and she took me to some seriously beautiful spots in San Diego. While the rest of the country is freezing over, California seems to be confused and think it’s summer. See the original post on Glitter Guide, plus lots of extra shots from the photo shoot below. With that in mind, today I’m sharing 11 plaid scarves I adore over at Glitter Guide—just in time for the chilly fall and winter weather ahead. These are my top five—swing by Glitter Guide to see the rest! Forever 21 Classic Plaid Square Scarf ($12.80) A beautiful square scarf that’s medium weight with a fringed hem will elevate any outfit. J.Crew Cashmere Plaid Scarf ($128) This may technically be a men’s scarf, but borrowing from the boys is a-okay in my book. I’m obsessed with the buffalo plaid print in orange and navy. It’s pricey, yes, but also can be worn season after season thanks to it’s classic pattern and high-quality fabric. Old Navy Plaid Flannel Scarf ($16.94) This large-scale scarf comes in blue, red, taupe and black and won’t break the bank. Armani Exchange Classic Plaid Scarf ($38) This traditional-looking plaid scarf is the perfect topper to a neutral fall outfit. Love how classic it feels! Sole Society Plaid Scarf ($34.95) This lightweight scarf’s red tones pick up on the beauty of autumn (who doesn’t love that?) This squash has a nutty and sweet taste much like pumpkin, and becomes creamy and sweet when cooked—and is also an excellent source of vitamin A. Today on Glitter Guide I’m sharing some favorite ways to incorporate this delicious vegetable into fall meals, so be sure to check it out for some hearty & healthy dinner ideas :) Image via Naturally Ella]]> 0 10 Most Versatile Ankle Boots Fri, 08 Nov 2013 17:41:59 +0000 We all think of boots when we think of fall, but there is one specific type of boot that really has me swooning. Ankle boots are comfortable, casual, chic and pair easily with anything (jeans, leggings, dresses, skirts, you name it!). I personally wear mine almost everyday—mostly with a skirt (here, here and here) or skinny jeans (here, here, here and here), and sometimes with my favorite Hudson jeans. These are a few of my absolute favorites at the moment. SHOP THE POST: Dolcetta Cutout Boot ($69) I adore everything about these boots—from the cutouts and wraparound strap to the polished buckle and stacked heel. Bonus: they’re made of vegan leather!]]> 0 7 Chic Sweatshirts To Wear Right Now Fri, 18 Oct 2013 14:30:24 +0000 One trend I adore right now? Dressed-up sweatshirts. Below is a piece I did for Glitter Guide recently featuring chic and cozy sweatshirts that I have my eye on this season. We think it’s safe to say that all of us are thrilled to see sweatshirts are one of this season’s hottest trends. Comfy, cozy, and endlessly versatile, chic sweatshirts have won our hearts completely. Wear them layered over a collared shirt, pair them with an edgy leather skirt, or simply toss them on with your favorite pair of jeans. Old Navy Terry-Fleece Raglan Top ($8): This lightweight graphic sweatshirt has a flattering shrunken fit, and is sure to help you make friends while you’re out and about.]]> 2 Neutral Fall Looks Mon, 07 Oct 2013 17:30:50 +0000 As always, I am drawn to neutral looks. They are so classic and versatile, and never go out of style. Below is a piece I did for Glitter Guide last week featuring some stunning neutral looks spotted on my favorite style bloggers. After a few summer months spent sporting our favorite brightly patterned dresses and fluorescent manicures, we’re ready to refine our wardrobe palettes for fall. Bright colors are great, but nothing says sophisticated and stylish quite like a neutral autumn outfit. We love seeing neutral hues on timeless silhouettes like blazers, just as much as we adore them on modern, trendy pieces like sweatshirts and ponchos. Dressing in colors as classic as neutral tans, grays and soft blues is a surefire way to put together a chic and effortless look. SHOP THE POST: Blazer & Skinnies You can’t go wrong with a blazer and jeans. We love the way our editorial director Caitlin styled her denim on denim, dressing it up with a blazer, accessories a clutch and heels. Below is a piece I did for Glitter Guide last week featuring my favorite caps of the season. This season’s must-have hat is the classic baseball cap made chic. From embroidery and jewels, to fall-inspired fabrics like tweed and leather, the baseball cap is more stylish than ever. No longer just a workout staple, this style of hat can be worn with anything in your wardrobe this season (yes, even dresses). Bonus: they make bad hair days much easier to manage. A little known fact: I met her on a beach in Big Sur while she and John were celebrating their first anniversary, and she was as kind and beautiful as you might imagine. Below is a piece I did on her classic makeup look for Glitter Guide this week—a look I personally adore and strive for myself! Known for her smooth golden locks, fresh face and minimalist style, the late Carolyn Bessette Kennedy was a timeless beauty and a true fashion icon. Her makeup mirrored her style in many ways—clean, simple and fuss-free. To recreate her look, keep skin as healthy-looking as possible. If you can wear it bare, go for it! If you need a little extra coverage, use BB cream to achieve her classic fresh-faced look. Make sure your eyebrows are well-groomed, and stick with really clean lids—skipping the eyeshadow and liner altogether, or choosing a shadow that’s close to your skin tone. Add a coat or two of quality mascara. Finish off the face with a ruby red shade of lipstick—a signature look of hers!
