If you don’t own a chambray top yet, I highly recommend it—it’s perfect for travel, as it can be mixed with anything and layered super easily. Also, I’ve been known to use it as a coverup over my swimsuit. You know you want one. Now, for a bridal shower I attended recently, I decided to go with a more edgy look than the traditional nice dress I’d choose for showers. The edginess, of course, comes from the faux leather skirt and the ankle boots. To keep myself from looking overdone during the day time—and create a more casual-cool vibe—I went with the chambray top. And of course, for a hint of playful sweetness, I threw on my favorite crystal and pearl necklace. My mom and I actually both own it—we found it at a flea market outside of Palm Springs one weekend and both fell in love with it, agreeing to never wear it at the same time. It plays into the animal print trend, but with a little twist thanks to the uncommon giraffe print. And since it’s brown and white, it goes with nearly everything I own. I put together this look earlier this week, for dinner with a few of our friends. This felt like just the right mix of casual and dressy, plus it was super comfortable thanks to the loose lace top and ultra-stretchy jeans. It’s like a dressier version of jeans and a t-shirt. Tell me about it…]]> 5 Get The Look: Skinnies + Booties Fri, 27 Sep 2013 16:36:29 +0000 My style favorites are always the basics. A good pair of jeans. A neutral sweater. A white shirt. This look is basically a combo of several classic pieces in my wardrobe that always seem to work. I put this together for a morning meeting yesterday with a dear friend. It felt like just enough fall fashion, without being overwhelming since it’s still fairly warm here in San Diego. It’s an easy go-to look for casual work environments, coffee dates or date nights. Quite honestly, it’s looks like this that make me want to ditch my entire wardrobe and cycle through just a few key pieces. Wouldn’t getting dressed be so much easier that way? Do you tend to like having a big wardrobe for variety, or a small one for simplicity? P.S. Apologies for all the style selfies—over time, I’m going to be striving to have Brian snap more photos for style posts like these. Thanks for being patient :)]]> 16 Get The Look: Baseball Cap & Pearls Mon, 19 Aug 2013 12:00:00 +0000 I don’t know about you, but I’m a really big fan of high-low mixing. Whether it’s a t-shirt with a pencil skirt, a chambray top with a pop of sparkle, or a baseball cap and pearls (like above), there’s something effortlessly cool and chic about the mix, don’t you think? 01 / 02 / 03 / 04 / 05 Have you ever tried high-low mixing?
