Mon, 01 Feb 2016 13:00:22 +0000 en-US hourly 1 An Easy Closet Update Tue, 17 Nov 2015 16:28:42 +0000 Jack’s nursery has always been pretty cute. As he’s gotten older (and continued to grow exponentially…hello, 100th percentile!), we’ve opted for more of a capsule wardrobe of sorts for him, which means less clothes per size, and also way more of the bare white closet walls showing! So when Chasing Paper sent over some of their new wall stickers, I knew exactly where they needed to go. In less than 5 minutes, I was able to give the closet a fresh new look that fits with the existing style of the nursery. As someone who is helpless in the DIY department, it was a relief to see that these were as easy to apply as they made it look on their website. I didn’t even have to measure anything—this job was totally done by feel. Needless to say, I think I’ll be ordering more stickers to add to other sad walls in our house in the very near future. I love an easy update, don’t you? P.S. Our bathroom wall update!]]> 4 A Minted Giveaway {CLOSED} Tue, 10 Nov 2015 05:09:16 +0000 It’s that time of year when I find myself perusing websites for Christmas card ideas. Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching and unless I want to send out a New Year’s Card (I’ve admittedly done it before when time has gotten away from me), now is the time to both snap our family photo and pick out the card we’ll send to our loved ones. For the past several years I’ve partnered with Minted to share some of my favorites. This year, I’m not only sharing my picks, but also giving three of you a chance to win a $100 gift card towards purchases on thier site. Yay! (Scroll to the bottom to enter to win.) For our cards this year, I’m totally feeling their gold foil designs (which happen to be 20% off through November 16th, including cards and art, with the code FOIL). Though we haven’t snapped the photo we’ll be using for our cards yet, I had fun playing around with their “personalize” feature and popped in some photos from our summer family photo shoot into several designs to show off my favorites… Gosh, it’s going to be so hard to pick! I have to say, I am not usually one for black and white […]]]> 128 What’s In My Curated Mommy Mailbox Mon, 05 Oct 2015 19:00:09 +0000 As you guys know by now, I had the privilege of curating a box for Mommy Mailbox this month, and today we’re finally revealing what’s inside! I recently discovered them and have quickly become a big fan. Today I wanted to share a bit more about who they are and the products of theirs I’ve tried out, plus give you a chance to win a free kit! First, let’s talk about who they are and what they’re about. Started by two friends, Chelsa Crowley and Julie Fredrickson, these “right sized cosmetics” are smaller than average and designed to be fully used rather than tossed out too soon because they’ve expired. These beautiful products are all paraben-free, phthalate-free, cruelty-free and EU-compliant. What is that exactly? Well, the US bans only 11 items in cosmetics (yikes!) but Europe bans over 1,300 items in their cosmetics and Stowaway products are compliant with those standards. Love that! Now that we’re all in the know about the brand, let me tell you more about the products. Every kit includes the same products—BB cream, concealer, cheek & lip rouge, lipstick, eyeliner and mascara—but you get to customize your color preferences. This is what I chose for my kit… Radiant Complexion Beauty Balm in light Creaseless Concealer in light Cheek & Lip Rouge in burnt rose […]]]> 115 Chasing Paper Tue, 04 Aug 2015 15:22:30 +0000 Chasing Paper makes beautiful, well-designed removable wallpaper that will stick to nearly any surface. It’s ideal for renters, indecisive people, or anyone like me who feels completely incapable of DIY projects. I’ve had my eye on several different patterns for a few spaces in our house for a while, so when they reached out to ask me if I’d be interested in participating in their small space challenge, I of course said, “YES!” Below is a peek at the space we transformed, including the before and after photos. ^^Thankfully I had a super tall husband to reach up into the corner! ^^As you can see, the paper is installed in panels. Each panel is 2’x4′ and from there you can cut it down to fit tighter areas. The wall we covered is 9’x3′ so we used the big panels first to cover as much space as possible and then trimmed down some sheets to cover the rest of the wall and the very bottom area. ^^I honestly didn’t have much confidence that it would look cohesive with the panels and cutting, but I’m super impressed with the end result! P.S. Our wallpaper pattern is Delicate Thoughts by featured designer Kelly […]]]> 1 EIGHTYONE 20 Gift Card Giveaway Tue, 07 Jul 2015 18:08:08 +0000 For me, a big part of being consistent with fitness is having clothes that I feel comfortable and confident in. For example, after giving birth to Jack my body was in BAD shape. Though I didn’t have a c-section, I was essentially on house arrest for the full 6 weeks after delivery and only allowed to go up and down my stairs once in the morning and once at night to actually get to my bed. It. Was. Awful. And thankfully, a short, temporary season. Aside from that, I have experienced a couple more permanent ones, like peeing my pants a little when I go running or sneeze (ha!), and having a chest that will never be quite the same. On the other hand, I’ve been surprised by a few changes for the better. I’ve had a sort of weird body image since college when I was dealing with an eating disorder. While the eating disorder thing got figured out, my view of myself never really healed…until now. Perhaps it’s because I see my body as so much more than an object now, but rather as a valuable, functional vessel. I carried Jack in my body, physically pushed him out of after […]]]> 2 Summer Style Inspiration Mon, 15 Jun 2015 13:00:24 +0000 DISCLOSURE: Today’s post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group®, PEOPLE StyleWatch® and InStyle®, but (as always!) all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #Summer4Me By now you all know I maybe have a teensy, tiny (okay, massive) obsession with shopping at Target. In all honesty, I go there probably 3-4 times a week! It’s a sickness, and also one of my favorite guilty pleasures (aside from chocolate). I suppose I justify all of my shopping there by having a Red Card and using the Cartwheel app for coupons, but in all reality I guarantee I end up spending more than I otherwise would have because of that little mental game I play. Oh well ;) One often overlooked item at Target (at least for me) is the magazine rack. Sure, I peruse it while in line sometimes, but never usually pull the trigger and buy anything. But really…why not? What a simple pleasure a magazine is during nap time—am I right, mamas? Anyway, I decided to bust out InStyle and People StyleWatch for a little “me time” in my backyard this past week to get inspired for summer style. After flipping through […]]]> 2 Modern Motherhood: Pumping at Work Mon, 08 Jun 2015 15:01:15 +0000 As part two of the Modern Motherhood series with Mitera Collection, I wanted to discuss a topic that so many modern moms have to deal with: pumping at work. I think we can all agree that pumping is the worst. And pumping in your place of work just takes this up another level. Since I’m a stay-at-home, work-at-home mom and I don’t personally have experience pumping at work, I’ve asked my friend Madison from Espresso and Cream to share a bit about it—including 5 tips to make it less frustrating. __________ In February my husband and I welcomed our daughter, Ainsley, into the world. I was entirely unprepared for how time consuming breastfeeding and pumping would be, and there were many times during my daughter’s first 12 weeks of life when I thought about throwing in the towel. I returned to my job in food marketing when Ainsley was 12 weeks old and have been pumping at work for a couple of weeks now. My first day back I was all nerves; I was leaving my baby with our nanny for the first time, returning to the working world and trying to figure out the logistics of pumping at work. It’s so easy to slip into and works well for the unusually warm weather we’ve had in San Diego for the past month or so. I love how effortless and minimal the whole look is. The necklace I’m wearing is, as you may have guessed from the title of this post made out of paper! It was sent to me from Uncommon Goods, and was handmade in Swaziland by African artisans. Discarded magazine pages are stacked, glued, cut and sanded to make this stone-like pendant, which is oddly light but still feels pretty sturdy. And the base is made of super pretty lacquered, recycled glass. Even better? It’s fair trade. UncommonGoods is a New York-based retailer that features unique designs and handcrafted gifts that don’t have a negative impact on the environment, animals or people. They support and provide a platform for artists and designers—most of the stuff they sell is made by hand and created in the USA. Want to see more?
