Oui, Margot

Margot Necklace by Natalie Borton

I get so excited every time we launch a new product I’ve been working on, and today is one of those days! After seeing how much you all loved the Addison Necklace and are now loving the Scout Necklace, I’ve gotten the hint that some of you are into more delicate pieces ;) So, here’s a third one I’m adding into the mix!

The Margot Necklace is a delicate necklace with 16K gold-plated matte brass lettering strung on 18″ gold plated chain. “Oui” is French for “yes,” and serves as a reminder to say yes to what’s important in life—spending more time with family and friends, having more fun, pursuing your dreams, you name it. Simple, a little sassy and “barely there,” it’s a perfect piece for everyday wear.

11 Madewell New Arrivals I Want in My Closet

madewellfall2016

Hi, I’m Natalie and I’m a Madewell addict. The first step to recovery is admitting the problem, right? Except I don’t plan on ever fixing the problem because Madewell is just that good. At this point, the majority of my wardrobe is from the brand and I don’t hate it one bit. I admit, sometimes I think about shopping other places to diversify more, and then realize there’s no reason to change it up if I’m satisfied with what I have going on, right? I know my sizes, like the materials, and feel like it’s aligned with my style. And God knows I don’t need to be complicating my life any more right now, especially with style choices!

That being said, here are 11 new arrivals I want right now…

How I Take My Blog Photos

IMG_0227Brian kindly serves as my amateur photographer on the weekends and is responsible for the photos in posts like this, this and this. But when he’s not around, I snap all of the Legit Mom Style photos (as well as several photos for Instagram) by myself. If I’m not in the photo, that’s obviously easy to do. But if it’s a photo of me wearing something, well that gets tricky. I used to do one of two things…

  1. Attempt an outfit selfie, like this, which can work but doesn’t provide the whole picture and is a bit distorted. I still like this as an option, but only sometimes.
  2. Use a fancy camera to do it all. The camera was nice and it was easy to get a tripod set up, but it got annoying to take the photos, upload them, transfer them to my phone to edit (I’m addicted to A Color Story!), and then post them or upload them back to my computer. Too much unnecessary work!

Instead, I got an iPhone tripod and a simple remote clicker and it is the easiest blog photo-taking secret ever. (You can see the little clicker in my hand in the photo above.) No other people are necessary to take the photo, and my photos are already on my phone for editing and posting. Also, it’s a perfect thing to own for group photos—my girlfriends and I totally used it for this one when we were in Austin!

Anyway, if you are a fellow blogger or maybe even just a fellow mama who wants to be in more photos with her kids, I hope this makes your life easier like it did mine ;)
