What I see when I scroll through is different than what you see, and I often wonder which accounts you guys follow! While of course I follow friends and family, I follow a ton of style-oriented accounts for inspiration. So I thought I’d give you a peek into some of the accounts I love lately! These ladies are somewhat diverse in their style signatures, but each of them inspire me in different ways in my own style. Here are my current favorites… @jessannkirby Based in Newport, Rhode Island, Jess’ feed is full of casual-cool outfits shot against coastal backgrounds. Everything she wears looks effortlessly chic—and she has great hair and a cute dog, too! @crystalinmarie I’ve been following Crystalin for a long time and she continues to be one of my all-time favorites. She literally only wears neutrals (girl after my own heart!), and she’s also petite so I often can trust the fit of the clothes she styles since I’m short as well. @happilygrey Mary is a real-life friend of mine who I met through my husband Brian (they went to collage together), and I can tell […]]]> 0 Natalie Borton <![CDATA[Wide Leg Trousers]]> 2017-01-19T01:50:42Z 2017-01-18T21:33:19Z Madewell tee, Madewell trousers, Madewell bag, Natalie Borton necklace (sold out, shop current pieces here), Sole Society boots (similar) I’m definitely late to this trend, but after seeing my friend Shawna style hers expertly I knew I at least needed to try a pair of wide leg trousers to see if they were as magical as everyone says they are. I feared that this silhouette was really only for tall, straight-shaped gals and feared it would make me look shorter and wider so I honestly have just avoided wide leg pants completely. But I really couldn’t have been more wrong! More evidence here. So when these trousers went on major sale and I figured I had nothing to lose. Worst case scenario? I hate them and return them. So after several texts with Shawna about the general fit and length of the pants I selected my size online and hit “checkout.” I was so excited when they arrived that I tried them on immediately…and Brian thought they were super weird. (Do your husbands do that to you, too? Whenever you try something more fashion-y? Guys are so funny.) Anyway, I doubted myself a bit since he generally has a good eye but after mulling […]]]> 9 Natalie Borton <![CDATA[Downtown Field Jacket]]> 2017-01-19T03:17:07Z 2017-01-17T17:41:38Z J.Crew jacket, Madewell sleeveless sweater, Madewell jeans (similar), Madewell x Sezane boots (similar), Hobo bag (c/o), RAEN sunglasses via DITTO (get your first month free with the code DITTONATALIE), Natalie Borton necklace I bought this jacket at J.Crew several years ago and had honestly forgotten about it until I recently reorganized my closet. In recent years I’ve favored my mossy green fleet jacket from Madewell over this one, but sometimes that look is just too casual. The fabric and the buttons on the field jacket are dressier, plus that deep green hue is such a gorgeous contrast against the gold. Although the jacket was technically the final touch on this outfit, it’s really the star—don’t you think? Still sick over here. I went to the doctor and she said it’s just a nasty cold that’s going around that can last up to 4 weeks. Ugh. Many of you have messaged me to say you have it too, and I’m so sorry we’re all in the same boat. Here’s hoping this next week is when we finally get healthy! Their clothes definitely skew masculine (which I love) and I find they have a look that is really similar to Madewell in a lot of ways. Even better, they have a fully transparent business that makes them a real leader in responsible and ethical fashion. These are some of their pieces I’m saving up for at the moment… The Cashmere Square Crew, $125 I’m wearing the original cashmere crew in the photo above, as well as here and here, but I really love this updated square version. I know already that Everlane’s cashmere is super soft and holds up over time—I wear mine a lot! I’d love to have the ivory color in my wardrobe! The Silk Sleep Set, $98 A perfect mix of comfort and luxury, don’t you think? The navy color with white piping is gorgeous. The Stretch Ponte Crop Pant, $78 Since I’m not that tall, these would likely fit right at my ankle, which is ideal. I love the way ponte pants have a leggings look but are much more put-together thanks to the thicker fabric. The Modern Oxford, $168 The blush color is so, so lovely and would […]]]> 9 Natalie Borton <![CDATA[Happy Weekend: What I Loved This Week]]> 2017-01-06T18:12:33Z 2017-01-06T16:56:47Z I’ve officially been sick for the entire first week of the new year! The only real benefit has been that it’s forced me to slow down and do nothing that can’t be done from the comfort of my living room. I’ve been reading A TON (mostly notably Shauna Niequist’s Present Over Perfect and The Editors of Goop’s Goop Clean Beauty) and eating more vegetables that I have in years in hopes of boosting my immune system. So although I wish I wasn’t a phlegm machine right now, I do appreciate that sickness has already started to force me into some solid self-care habits. My second Madewell pop-up event (which I co-hosted with Chrissy Powers this time) went well and was really fun.The lighting is terrible, but I’m so glad we were able to snap a few photos because it was a great night. Last time I had a ton of friends come to the event, and while I certainly had that this time, I also had a chance to meet a lot more new people. My favorite part was helping out the guys Christmas shopping for their wives, girlfriends and sisters—if you are reading this and a man in your life got you one of my necklaces from the pop-up shop, I can personally tell you he LOVES you and was really concerned with finding you the perfect gift ;) In a nutshell, I am just so grateful to have the opportunity to sell my products in a store I love so much, even just for a few hours at a time. Already looking forward to the next time! I’m thinking about a lot more than fashion of course, but since this is primarily a style blog I thought it would be fun to look back on some of my favorite looks from the past year. Silk Island Skirt | My idea of a perfect date night outfit. Those sandals are by far the most-worn pair in my closet, too! Off Shoulder Top | This is one of my favorite looks ever. It’s simple and sexy and effortless. Also, looking back on this makes me miss my hair extensions! I definitely plan to experiment with them and my shorter hair to see if I can create a long braid still. Ryder Cardigan | The softest, coziest sweater in my wardrobe for sure. I especially loved mixing tan and grey here. Note to self: do that more often. Black Blazer | My version of a power outfit. I always feel put-together in a well-fitting blazer. Faux Fur Stole + The Paige Tassel Necklace | This faux fur stole made my entire wardrobe holiday-worth in a snap. It is so incredibly soft, and it easily transformed a simple outfit into […]]]> 3 Natalie Borton <![CDATA[Grey Cashmere]]> 2017-01-19T03:21:21Z 2016-12-29T23:21:52Z Everlane sweater (c/o), Madewell jeans (c/o), Sam & Libby boots (similar), Old Navy scarf, Daniel Wellington watch (c/o, get 15% off with code NATALIEB), Natalie Borton necklace A cashmere sweater and oversized blanket scarf make for a dreamy (and cozy) combo on a chilly winter morning. I wore this on my dad’s birthday for a little trip to the Salton Sea. It’s a really eerie and strangely beautiful place. Looking back at these photos it really looks like I’m on another planet! My favorite part of it is the mountains behind the water—isn’t that just stunning? This cashmere sweater was a gift from Everlane that arrived just before Christmas. After wearing my black one so often for the past year or so (even just around the house!), it’s nice to have a new luxe sweater in the rotation. Not only is it a great price, but the quality and softness are amazing. One other thing of note—I’ve recently discovered a pretty brilliant mascara combo I wanted to share. First I curl my lashes (always!), then do one coat of Pixi by Petra Lacquer Lash Primer and one coat of Maybelline Full ‘N Soft Mascara. It is miraculous. You’re welcome ;) […]]]> 3
