Jeanine creates the recipes, her husband Jack taste-tests and together they create the prettiest food photos I’ve ever seen. Almost everything on the blog is vegetarian, and discovering recipes is easy peasy thanks to the recipe browser. What I love most about the blog is two-fold. First, the photography is just stunning. It makes me want to get in the kitchen and cook something! Second, the recipes are wholesome and simple, usually without super long ingredients lists. If you like food, you must try at least one recipe from this blog. (See what I did there? Now you all have to try one. I recommend starting with the Vegan Stuffed Shells, which I made this week and was really impressed by. Doesn’t even taste vegan.) Have you heard of Love and Lemons? We instantly hit it off, and while we’ve never met in person (yet!), we’ve definitely had our share of emails, tweets and video chats, all making it feel like we’ve been friends for a long time. What I love most about Anne is her commitment to writing authentically—a trait I value immensely. If you don’t follow her blog yet, you absolutely should do so the moment you finish reading this interview. Oh, and she’s also on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, and I’m sure she’d welcome a follow on those sites as well. Now, how about I let you get to know her for yourself? You are an amazing writer who is consistently authentic, honest, and vulnerable. When did you first realize was something you wanted to do professionally? Thank you so much! You are too kind. I’ve been writing stories and in journals since I was a small girl, and it really developed into a serious interest in high school. When I got to college my freshman year, I threw myself into writing classes and opportunities, and sought our internships and editorial opportunities […]]]> https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2013/12/follow-friday-anne-the-adventurer.html/feed 10 Follow Friday: Pretty/Hungry https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2013/11/follow-friday-prettyhungry.html https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2013/11/follow-friday-prettyhungry.html#comments Fri, 22 Nov 2013 13:00:32 +0000 https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/?p=2336 I first met Carissa at a mutual friend’s wedding, and immediately noticed her super-adorable daughter Elsa, who has the kind of cheeks you absolutely must squeeze. Carissa and I ended up sitting next to each other for dinner and got to talking—and several months later it feels like we’ve always been friends! In addition to being a kind person with a beautiful heart, a wife and a mother, Carissa is a food blogger at Pretty/Hungry—a blog all about making food that is appealing to the eye and the stomach. Below is an interview I did with Carissa about her blog, her favorite recipes, feeding a family on a budget, and finding balance in eating habits. (Oh, and Carissa also interviewed me for her blog today—you can check that out here!) What is your food philosophy, and what inspired you to start your food blog, Pretty/Hungry? I’ve shared with my own readers that my mother died very young, and because of that, I took on the role of “family cook” very early in life. But beyond that, food is my favorite way to create. I truly see cooking as an art form! And I’m bothered by how often I see a […]]]> https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2013/11/follow-friday-prettyhungry.html/feed 2 Follow Friday: Style Within Reach https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2013/09/follow-friday-style-within-reach.html https://thoughtsbynatalie.com/2013/09/follow-friday-style-within-reach.html#comments Fri, 20 Sep 2013 17:13:13 +0000 http://hellonatalieblog.com/?p=1130 I first met Caitlin (well, e-met) a year ago when I started writing for Glitter Guide. As the editorial director for the site, she’s my editor and point of contact for all things glittery, sparkly and fun for Glitter Guide. In addition to her work for GG, though, she has an amazing blog of her own—Style Within Reach—which I’ve absolutely fallen in love with. The focus of the blog is style—personal, at home and otherwise—that is attainable and affordable. She features not only her personal style favorites, but also entertaining and decorating ideas that look beautiful but won’t break the bank. If you’re looking for a lifestyle blog with a focus on affordable style, be sure to check out Style Within Reach! Have you heard of Style Within Reach? She is every bit as kind and pleasant and beautiful as you would imagine—and her blog is a wonderful collaboration of the best things: entertaining, food, beauty & style and life. I love all of the DIY projects, hair and makeup how-to’s, party ideas, food and drink recipes, and effortless style tips (usually from Jen Pinkston, who we all know I already love)—not to mention the beautiful photos that always accompany the posts. This blog is just a big winner all around! If you’re looking for a lifestyle blog that’s visually appealing and full of creative, fuss-free inspiration, be sure to check out Camille Styles! Jen does a series for the blog called My Life, Styled—and from the very beginning I’ve loved her classic yet playful looks. Her blog, The Effortless Chic, covers style, interiors, travel and food, and features her “understated chic aesthetic” and “celebrates the beauty in simple, elegant combinations.” I pretty much want to copy everything that Jen puts together—understated chic is certainly the look I’m aiming for with my wardrobe, and she does it so well. Minna So is a graphic designer, illustrator, student, entrepreneur and of course, blogger. In her own words, “My design esthetic is modern and sweet, and I love incorporating hand-drawn type and illustrations to give everything a more personal touch. I am always challenging myself to reach newer and higher heights. I feel like design is constantly evolving, which is really exciting to me… there is always something new around the corner, and more opportunities to explore.” I just adore her simple, clean style in all of its sweet femininity, and look forward to reading her blog regularly! Now, for some bits of inspiration, straight from Minna herself… Do any of these inspiring sayings speak into your life right now? How so?
