The Best of 2016 Style

As 2016 has now drawn to a close, I am in reflection mode. I’m thinking about a lot more than fashion of course, but since this is primarily a style blog I thought it would be fun to look back on some of my favorite looks from the past year.

Silk Island Skirt | My idea of a perfect date night outfit. Those sandals are by far the most-worn pair in my closet, too!

Off Shoulder Top | This is one of my favorite looks ever. It’s simple and sexy and effortless. Also, looking back on this makes me miss my hair extensions! I definitely plan to experiment with them and my shorter hair to see if I can create a long braid still.

Ryder Cardigan | The softest, coziest sweater in my wardrobe for sure. I especially loved mixing tan and grey here. Note to self: do that more often.

Black Blazer | My version of a power outfit. I always feel put-together in a well-fitting blazer.

Faux Fur Stole + The Paige Tassel Necklace | This faux fur stole made my entire wardrobe holiday-worth in a snap. It is so incredibly soft, and it easily transformed a simple outfit into an effortlessly chic party look. And of course I love how it paired with my Paige Tassel Necklace.

Wide Brim Hat | This hat really needs to make more appearances in 2017—it’s for sure one of my more underrated accessories!

Collared Dress + Loafers | A little feminine, a little masculine. This dress + these loafers are what my ideal outfit dreams are made of. Also, I made the decision to invest in these Madewell loafers when I tried them on in the store and have not regretted it one bit.

Sleeveless Sweater + Black Denim | This sleeveless sweater proved perfect for San Diego fall.

Tapered Collection Dress | A soft, simple LBD for day or night. I love the way the wide brim hat and oversized shades created a casual-yet-glamorous warm weather look.

Flares + Checks | These are absolutely the most leg-lengthening jeans I own. I love how they paired with a knotted button-down (in my favorite pattern of 2016!) and my wide-brimmed hat.

There you have it—my favorite looks from 2016! In the coming year, I hope to continue to refine my style to align with my values and real-life needs. That means more casual-chic-comfortable looks (aka #legitmomstyle), as well as exploring more ethical fashion brands and of course donating any clothes I no longer love to avoid closet clutter. Happy New Year, friends!
