My go-to cool weather color scheme? You guessed it…black and tan. It’s the perfect neutral mix. Black—my favorite color to wear—can sometimes feel harsh and cold. But when I mix in warm tan elements, it adds depth that I love.
This whole outfit is filled with classic pieces that I never seem to tire of: high rise skinnies, a cashmere sweater, pointed loafers, my trusty tan crossbody, a blanket scarf and of course a Natalie Borton necklace ;) The jeans are my newest pair from Madewell and I love the dark wash that has plenty of stretch and softness. And this sweater is one I’ve had for a couple of years now. It’s so soft and beautiful still, I want it in heather grey, ivory and pale pink too!
Lastly, these photos really show how much of an impact a scarf can have on an outfit. If I switched it out for a different pattern (or even this stole), the same outfit would have a totally different feel. Accessories really help a minimalist wardrobe go the distance!

December 22, 2016 at 8:24 amIt runs small actually! I normally am an XS or S and got a M in this and it’s a perfect fit.
