We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
I devoured this book by the pool while we were visiting my parents for Easter. It’s a captivating story about a wealthy family’s annual summer reunions on their private island in Massachusetts. Full of love, mystery and a healthy dose of family drama, it’s really a perfect summer read.
Discipline Without Damage by Vanessa LaPointe
When I was pregnant my friend and neighbor Wendy invited me to a class she was teaching on Redirecting Children’s Behavior. I hadn’t thought much about parenting before then—mostly because I didn’t have a baby yet!—but hearing about the whole philosophy behind it completely changed the way I’d originally though I’d parent Jack. I love the whole Positive Parenting movement so much (if you’ve read The Danish Way of Parenting, they have a similar philosophy in there, too). Anyway, now that Jack is a toddler I realize discipline is going to become part of the picture because testing boundaries is an important part of development at this age. Thus, I’m checking out this book that’s all about emphasizing connection with your child and fostering their development while also guiding them towards healthy behaviors and actions.
The Sleep Revolution by Arianna Huffington
I know I’m not the only one who isn’t getting enough sleep around here! I love everything Arianna does, but especially her research and commitment to healthy sleep habits. It really is so essential for our overall health! I’m excited to dive into this and discover ways to improve my sleep habits this year.
