Two Hats, Two Ways

DSC_1102I haven’t always been a hat person, but after postpartum hair and lack-of-time-for-showering became a reality for me earlier this year, I decided to give it a shot and haven’t looked back. I love the way a hat can transform the feel of any outfit. A baseball hat? Instantly sporty and a little masculine. A straw hat? Summery and relaxed. A felt fedora? Super luxe and reserved for the confident (or those pretending to be!).

Recently my gal pal Shawna* and I decided it would be fun to do a little shoot together and show off our different takes on styling our hats. For each look we did something similar, but with the twist of our own personal style. Today you’ll see how we styled two classics: baseball caps and felt fedoras. My outfit details are below, and you can get the scoop on Shawna’s over at her namesake blog, Shawna Leeann

Old Navy dress, Madewell hat (similar), J.Crew shirt, Natalie Borton necklace, Sole Society boots (similar)

*Congrats for reading this far! If you noticed the little asterisk by Shawna’s name up at the top and absolutely had to know why it was there, you are my kind of person, haha. I just wanted to make a quick note that Shawna and I have been friends since we were in college at Pepperdine and are Delta Gamma sorority sisters (Eta Alpha chapter!). Fun fact, right?!

Haha I was reading all the way to the bottom just for that very reason. Adorable hats, ladies! I’ve always been a big fan of baseball caps, but I haven’t worked up the courage to wear other types of hats. ;)

Take the leap! It’s scary (I always feel like I’m drawing so much attention to myself, haha), but it really is wonderful—and the easiest way to hide crazy postpartum hair.
