Being a mom and being stylish is hard. We get peed on and have puffs in our hair and are always a little sweaty (or is that just me?). But you know what, it’s not impossible. With a little effort we can do it! We can be comfortable, practical and chic and it really only takes a teensy bit of effort and some good wardrobe editing and maintenance.
So, I’m starting a series…Legit Mom Style…and it is going to document what I actually wear on weekdays when I’m on baby duty, running errands, going to play dates, attempting to get work done, and trying desperately to hide the fact that showering isn’t my strong suit these days. I follow a lot of mom bloggers who share gorgeous outfits but often they aren’t looks that work well for my personal mom/work lifestyle so I wanted to create something for those of you out there who are feeling the same thing.
One thing I promise you: if I wear my running clothes all day, I won’t cover that up! This series is a peek into what’s really in my wardrobe, what works for me as a mom and #girlboss, and what I legitimately wear week after week. Repeat outfits are guaranteed because I’m practical like that ;)
Monday: Madewell hat (on sale now!), Madewell tee, Loft skirt (currently 50% off), JORD watch (c/o), Target sandals (similar)
Tuesday: Madewell shirt, Madewell jacket, cutoffs made from J.Crew jeans (similar), Target sandals
Wednesday: Madewell tee, Madewell jeans, Madewell flats, Madewell necklace (similar)
Thursday: Gap dress, Hobo bag (c/o), Target sandals (This was a work day and by the time I was leaving the house I realized I needed a bigger bag to hold all my stuff since I wouldn’t have the diaper bag with me!! So I switched to this Hobo tote (c/o) instead. I don’t think they sell it anymore, but I think this one is equally as amazing)
Friday: Madewell tee, Loft skirt (currently 50% off), Target sandals (similar), Natalie Borton necklace, Target sunglasses (Notice: same outfit as Monday, but with a different color tee and new accessories!)

August 29, 2015 at 1:23 pmLove it! Work it girl! So inspiring! I really need new jeans but because I’m nursing, my body is super slim and I’m holding out dressing it until we’re done and I gain back my usual weight. Recommendations for affordable denim to hold me over and still is flattering?

August 29, 2015 at 9:04 pmI have your Thursday dress in maternity comfy right. I’m not going to lie pregnant or not I wear some form of jeans everyday. So you’re definitely more dressed up than me. I like this idea. It’s fun.

September 1, 2015 at 1:09 pmI just found your blog and I really like it! Love the idea of this series. I’m pregnant with my first kid and will be finishing teaching Pilates soon and excited to build a wardrobe that goes beyond yoga pants :).

October 6, 2015 at 1:46 pmHi Natalie, I love this series! Did you have to go up in size in the Madewell tees? Just wondering because they seem so cropped on the website.

October 6, 2015 at 7:41 pmI actually went two sizes up from my normal Madewell size! Mine are size medium.

January 7, 2016 at 1:27 pmAny chance you’d be willing to share your madewell denim size (we appear to be similar body types). There are no stores close to me and I’m making the plunge and ordering a pair. Need help! Thanks!
