What’s In My Tote

When my friends at Hobo sent over this gorgeous Cypress tote, it was love at first sight. The perfect shade of buttery brown leather (which they call Whiskey), it’s everything a tote should be. It’s minimal and structured, but also has several pockets so things don’t get lost floating around in the main compartment. This is definitely a timeless piece I’ll have for years and years to come—I’ve certainly been carrying it around every chance I get since it arrived on my doorstep!

Which brings me to today’s post—what’s in my tote. I secretly always want to know what people carry around in their bags, so I thought I’d share what you can usually find in mine. What do you usually have in yours?

PHONE // I go nowhere without this baby! I recently upgraded to an iPhone 6 and am obsessed with the gold and white color scheme. So much so, I went with a clear case so I could show it off!

HAND SANITIZER // As a new mom to a baby who is still in the process of getting all of his vaccines, I’m super paranoid about germs. And thus, I carry around hand sanitizer with me at all times. I love the Honest Company Hand Sanitizer Spray because it’s natural, effective, doesn’t dry out my hands and smells awesome.

CLUTCH WALLET // This was a gift from Hobo years ago and I just can’t bring myself to part with it. I’m obsessed with the yellow honeycomb pattern! Though it’s been out of their shop for a long time, this is the closet in similarity.

SPARKLING WATER // I admittedly am really bad at hydrating during the day, so I’ve started to buy the sparkling water bottles from Trader Joe’s to easily bring with me in my bag, on a walk or in my car. They’re so refreshing and make drinking water feel like less of a chore. I also love bottles versus cans because once you open a can, you’re stuck holding it until you’re all finished!

SNACK BARS // I’ve never been a 3-meals-a-day kind of girl, and pretty much am always in the mood for a snack. Bars are easy to keep in my bag for times when hunger hits and I need a jolt of energy. My favorites are Larabar and Think Thin (though I hate that name so much).

READING MATERIAL // I recently started subscribing to a few magazines as a little indulgence and it is so fun to get a new issue in the mail every month! Currently I’m reading InStyle, Real Simple and Coastal Living. I had them in my bag this weekend to read during a much-needed pedicure and it was just the best thing ever.

SUNGLASSES // My eyes are really sensitive, and I can’t imagine going outside without proper eye protection! I love these surfer shades from Target, but have a solid rotation of other frames I wear on rotation: round tortoise shades, aviators and these funky black ones.

ALTOIDS // These are my fresh-breath addiction. I keep them in my car, in the diaper bag, and obviously in my tote :)

BABY CHEW TOYS // Whenever I go anywhere with Jack, it’s essential to have something for him to hold or gnaw on. These chew beads are his current favorite, closely followed by this soft silicone teether. I love how easy they are to clean!

Thanks! I had been searching for one for a long time—and nearly pulled the trigger on the Madewell Transport Tote—but am glad I ended up with the Hobo. It’s gorgeous!

I also love when people share what’s in their bag.

    This tote is just beautiful.

Buttery buttery yum. I’m a Paula Deen for leather.

YES! Jack can easily distract himself chomping on those things for an hour while sitting on my lap. It’s perfect!

I’m curious about chew beads. I like that there’s less chance of them ending up on the floor (chew toy on a public floor= germ city!). But I wonder if my little guy will then try to put other necklaces in his mouth, which could of course be a choking hazard. Thoughts?

Good question! I personally never wear the beads around my neck, but rather hold on to them or attach them to the stroller so he can have them close by without dropping them. I’m hoping that will minimize confusion in the future—but I also recognize that babies will pretty much put anything in their mouth, so we have our work cut out for us, haha.

LOVE the bag!!! and I’m with you on carrying baby teething toys and hand sanitizer. I have a two year old so magazines are out of the picture for me… but everything else is right on!
