Fall Style Wish List

September 10, 2014

While I know it’ll take a while to be back in my old clothes, being so close to not being pregnant anymore has me dreaming about the abundant style choices in my future. In addition to the pieces I already own and love, there are a few items that are on my wish list as potential purchases for the future.

Gap Plaid Shirtdress
I’m 99% committed to purchasing this shirtdress. From the moment I saw it, there was something about it that captivated me. I love the easy fit, the fact that it has a button-down top (which I’ll need since I’ll be nursing), and the fact that it’s plaid of course. Back when I ordered that perfect buffalo plaid shirt I got some kind of $25 coupon for a future purchase, and I’m planning on using that towards this dress—in the petite size so it doesn’t swallow my short body in too much fabric!

J.Crew Pixie Pants in Leather Stripe
Much like the Gap shirtdress, I’m heavily leaning toward buying these thanks to a generous gift card from my mother in law. I already have the regular black Pixie pants, but I wear them so often that I’m sure this second pair—especially with the dreamy leather stripe detail—would still get tons of wear. Looking for something similar, but with a lower price tag? Check out this pair at Nordstrom.

J.Crew Factory Camo Vest
Confession: I check J.Crew Factory daily for sales that will include women’s puffer vests and sadly am yet to see them discounted. Since it never gets that chilly here in San Diego, I basically wear vests instead of coats. I already have a black one and herringbone one from J.Crew, and would love to add this camo number to my collection.

Madewell Leather Pocket T-Shirt Dress
A soft and loose dress with a leather detail? I’m sold. This dress would pretty much work for all seasons in San Diego, and since it’s black it would be supremely versatile.

Gold Flats
Exactly which pair is still to be determined, but I have my eye on some by Steve Madden, 424 Fifth and—most affordably at $19.99—Xhilaration. I’ll probably end up getting the cheaper pair, though I really love that the other two pairs are more shiny. We shall see…

J.Crew Jeweled Raglan Sweatshirt
I’m a sucker for a good fitted sweatshirt. Easy to wear with jeans as a slightly dressy casual outfit or a slightly casual dressy outfit, a sweatshirt with gems is a multi-tasker and I love it. I especially adore that this one has a bit of a baseball tee feel to it. Sporty and sparkly all in one.

Madewell Sash Shorts
I’m a sucker for a fancy pair of shorts—especially a waist-defining pair. Last summer I snagged a pair of high-waisted shorts from LOFT and wore them every chance I got. This year, I’m considering these sash ones, which would be especially awesome if paired with a sweater and heels for fall or even the holidays.

Sole Society Chelsa Calf Hair Booties
It’s crazy to think that I used to hate ankle boots—in the last year, they’ve become my favorite type of shoes! These calf hair ones would be a fun addition to my growing collection, and would especially awesome with more simple, neutral looks for a pop of boldness. I also love the leather pair in bourbon, but they’re all sold out in my size.

Black Nike Free Shoes
Nike Free is always my athletic shoe go-to. I’d plan on using these to motivate me to get back into running post-baby, but also love that they work as a casual shoe option.

Madewell Cadet Blazer
Though the price is a bit high for me at the moment, I really love this blazer, and thus it is on the wish list. The asymmetrical buttons and stand-up collar are totally dreamy, and I love the soft grey color so much! This blazer would make leggings and a soft shirt look put-together, and I’m a fan of that.

P.S. Inspiring looks from J.Crew, some awesome new frames to consider for fall, plus money-saving style swaps to check out this season.

I am feeling the SAME way! I’m actually starting to be too big even for some of my maternity wardrobe so I’m even more ready to get back into a more “normal” body and get to wear “real” fashion…!

I feel you, girl! I’m down to just a few pieces during this final week—ready for some variety again!

I am interested in trying the original pixie pant. Never bought them before. Though they show they fit tight like leggings, do they still look nice enough to wear normal tops with? I always feel like my tops need to be a little longer and cover my behind if I am wearing regular leggings because it looks like leggings not pants. Curious on your thoughts!

Oh I definitely recommend them! They are basically super-fitted black pants—definitely not see-through in any way, shape or form like leggings.
