How do you like to relax?
I relax by spending time by the ocean. It never ceases to help me feel calm, breathe deeper (love that salty air!) and get a refreshed perspective on life.
How do you help soften your footprint on our earth?
I’ve been eating an entirely plant-based diet since September 2011, which I hear is even more effective at helping the environment than owning a Prius ;)
Sleep is a huge part of renewing your mind, body and soul. What is your routine before going to sleep each night? Any tips on how to sleep soundly?
The three most important things for me pre-bedtime are washing my face, moisturizing my skin and brushing my hair. I do those things every single night before bed, and they definitely prepare my mind and body for rest. Also, I think eating nutritiously and exercising during the day ultimately lead to a better night’s sleep. When I’ve treated my body well during the day, I find I get the reward of good sleep at night.
What is your favorite drink to help you relax?
If I’m being completely honest, I’d have to say wine! There’s nothing quite like sipping a glass of buttery Chardonnay while cooking dinner or sitting in the backyard with my husband after a long work day.
Do you have a favorite song that helps you renew yourself?
One of my all-time favorite relaxing songs is “Orange Sky” by Alexi Murdoch. Any time I feel that life is moving too fast, I sit down, play that song and just let myself breathe.
Do you participate in any outdoor activities that renew your mind, body or spirit?
I love to be outdoors! Two of the activities that make me feel most renewed are hiking and running. There’s a beautiful trail near my home that my husband and I often hike after work, and it always serves as an opportunity for us to connect and be renewed emotionally. Running is something I do most days during the week, usually at the beach. Physically, of course, running makes my body feel stronger and healthier. However, running near the water is most profoundly renewing of my mind and spirit—the sound of the waves soothes my busy mind, and the vastness of the ocean reminds me of just how small I am in this big world and that there is something greater than myself.
What is your favorite Naya shoe and why?
I absolutely love the Helena sandal! It’s super comfortable (a must for me) and pairs perfectly with summer dresses.
