I’m kicking off this series with my favorite cocktail—the French 75. A champagne (or sparkling wine) cocktail made with gin, lemon juice and simple syrup, the French 75 is delightfully fresh tasting and ideal for spring and summertime backyard cocktails. Though you can use your choice of brands, I like my French 75 with Hendrick’s or Tanqueray gin and Domaine Chandon Brut Classic.
Recipe from Saveur
1 oz. gin
½ oz. simple syrup
½ oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice
Brut champagne or a dry sparkling white wine
Lemon twist, for garnish (optional)
Combine gin, simple syrup, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until well chilled and strain into a glass. Top with champagne and garnish with a lemon twist to serve.
Have you ever had a French 75?
NOTE: This series is only for you if you are of legal drinking age. Please drink responsibly :)
