A House Tour…Before We Go!

IMG_0890I feel so silly that it has taken me this long to do a much-requested house tour. In all honesty, we are currently in escrow on a new home (only a few miles away!) and I snagged these photos from our realtor to have as a special memory of our first home. Better late than never, right? I promise to do a house tour of the new place soon, but until we actually live there, here’s what our current space is like…

Chairs: West Elm (similar). Couch: West Elm. Coffee table: West Elm. Mi Casa pillow: Target. Good Vibes pillow: Urban Outfitters. Arc lamp: Target. Tripod lamp: Target. Map: IKEA (old). Rug: Target.

Poufs: RH Baby & Child. Storage basket: Target (similar). Mirrors: Target (similar). Wall hanging: Target (similar).

The downstairs is an L-shaped room, with the living room area being near the front door, Jack’s play area in the middle where those poufs are (there normally is a rug and bins of toys there, but we moved them to sell the house), and then the dining area. The L-shape ends with a kitchen with a door out to the backyard.

Light fixture: West Elm. Table and chairs: consignment finds! Rug: Pottery Barn.

This West Elm light fixture is EVERYTHING. I cannot believe we waited so long to order and install it. Since it can be seen from the front door, this space definitely needed a statement light fixture. I think it really makes the room!

Light fixture: West Elm. Oh Happy Day pillow: Target. Lamps: Target (similar). Curtains: IKEA. Duvet and pillows: West Elm (similar). Stripe sheets: West Elm

Chair and ottoman: IKEA. Prints: Sharon Montrose. Crib: Target. Crib sheets: Land of Nod. Blackout curtains (that are admittedly too short): West Elm. Hamper: Home Decorators.

I love Jack’s little nursery so much—this is probably the room I’ll miss the most! So many nursing sessions in that IKEA chair, and so many newborn memories made here. Thankfully my friend Chrissy took tons of photos of it right after Jack was born for my Glitter Guide feature, so I’ll have those to put in his baby book and help me always remember.

Comforter: Target (similar). Faux fur blanket: Pottery Barn. Mirrors: Target. Side tables: West Elm. Lamps: A gift from my mom! (similar). Elephant print: Home Goods. Tray: Pottery Barn (similar).

Hope you enjoyed getting a peek finally! And like I said, I promise not to wait FOUR YEARS to do a house tour of our new place. It’s so, so dreamy undecorated so it shouldn’t be too difficult to get it photo-ready ;)

We just found out we’re having a boy and I needed some nursery inspiration! I’m almost third trimester with this one and have not planned AT ALL because we’re also moving–to another state–somewhere between a month and three months from now. Military life. ;-) I’m snagging that elephant hamper now!!

It’s from West Elm but they don’t sell it anymore! It’s the first piece of “nice furniture” we bought when we got married and I don’t know if I will ever part with it. I love it too!

Quick question– wanting to snag that rug at the great price. We have a dark colored wood floor, as well, and our current rug sheds like crazy. I thought it would stop eventually, but after 3 years it’s still making a mess on my floor. I love this rug, but don’t want to make the mistake of getting another one that sheds. Does it do that?

Which rug are you referring to? The living room one? It doesn’t shed at all and we love it!
