Though we’re still away and enjoying our vacation, I wanted to share some photos from our 4th of July weekend with you. Beach days, boating, a parade and fireworks kept us busy and relaxed. And of course help from my parents meant Brian and I have gotten a lot of quality time together, which we so appreciate. We are so thankful for the freedoms being an American affords us and have loved celebrating that this week in the state where it all began.

That being said, there is clearly a ton of tragedy happening this week—the news is such a stark contrast to the peace, rest and joy experiencing here on our trip with our little family. I feel powerless to change all of the horrors and tragedies around us, and honestly feel paralyzed by it all. I am heavy hearted. The world is full of tragedy, and it’s so hard to process it all sometimes. Clinging to these words by MLK Jr: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that.”

Let’s all pray for peace and unity, as well as do our part to spread more love and light in the world.
