It has taken me a really long time to come around on the whole midi skirt look. As someone who is not very tall, I always feel like the style makes me look shorter and wider and have avoided it forever. Until now, of course. Last week while trying on outfits to wear for my popup shop, Lauryn (my stylist friend at Madewell) convinced me to try this one on. I reluctantly agreed and was so, so surprised that I actually loved it.
The key for me is to pair it with tan-colored heels to create some height and a little leg lengthening illusion. The ones I’m wearing are also from Madewell and are not only the perfect match for summer dresses, skirts and even shorts, but are incredibly comfortable, too. Another thing I did to reduce the “widening factor” that can happen to me with midi skirts is brought attention to my waist by knotting my tank right where the skirt hits. I love how it all came together!
Lastly, though, we have to talk about hair for a minute—both eyelashes and my new set of Luxy extensions. Danielle from Lashes to Lashes invited me to try out eyelash extensions a month ago and I’ve loved them so much I actually went back and got a fill to keep maintaining them! It’s been so wonderful (especially now that it’s hot out) to not wear mascara but still look like I am. As far as the hair extensions go, I’d been wearing the dirty blonde shade but as I’ve let my hair become more ombre for the summer, I felt like I was afraid the clips were becoming too noticeable near the roots compared to my naturally brown hair. So I decided to give the ombre blonde shade a try and I am loving it so, so much! Although the roots of the ombre set look super dark online and in the package, they are blending seamlessly with my medium brown roots and I feel like they look even more natural than the dirty blonde set did with my hair color the way it is now. You’ll be seeing these a lot more, that’s for sure!
