Music has such a funny way of impacting our mood. Some music helps us wind down, other music helps us get amped up. My workout playlist is certainly very different than the playlist I use when I’m getting Jack ready for bed. And then, of course, there’s the work playlist.
Though I admittedly often work in total silence (a fact that my college self would have a hard time coming to grips with), there are days when I love to have a little background music to help me get into the zone. Without fail, I end up playing the same thing every time: John Mayer’s Paradise Valley album. For some strange reason, it is exactly what I need to get focused, and I’m sure the more I play it while I work the more I end up associating it with work, almost like a Pavlovian response.
The rad people from LSTN recently sent me their gorgeous new Apollo Bluetooth Speaker ($199) to test out and it is totally changing my music game. Not only is it a lovely display piece, it also is so easy to use because it’s connected to my phone by Bluetooth. And since my phone is basically attached to my hand, I always can play the music I want at the time I want it.
