A Baby “Sprinkle” Gift Guide

When you have your first baby, you have a baby shower, but for your second—it’s a sprinkle. I don’t know if you’ve been to one before, but gift-giving can be tough when your friend isn’t a first-timer. Since she is already equipped with all of the necessities from her first child, my approach is to always go for something pretty, fun, well-designed or, bonus points if you get her something that’s just for her.

There are so many beautiful things you could get, but here are a few that are at the top of my list…

Solly Baby Swaddles, $45 // She is guaranteed to already have tons of swaddle blankets—but she doesn’t have these yet! Solly Baby just came out with these beautiful blankets, made of the same material and in the same colors as their wraps. Though Jack hasn’t been swaddled in a very long time, my friends who have tested these say they are amazing. Even better? They have gorgeous packaging, which means you can just put a bow on it and skip the wrapping altogether if you want!

H&M Jersey Hat & Scarf, $4.99 // These are a steal! The grey and white stripe is neutral and classic, which means it’ll work for a boy or a girl. Jack uses these bandana bibs every single day—they’re our favorites.

Emily Ley Baby Book, $62 // This is hands-down the best baby book out there. I love the idea of gifting this to a good friend or family member as a special life-long keepsake. Since second babies are often less documented, this book can serve as a helpful reminder to snap photos and jot down milestones along the way.

Hadley Girl Bows, $3-$7 each // Shopping for a baby girl? Go for the bows!! These sweet ones are made by my friend Kelsey and are available attached to soft headbands, which are perfect for newborn heads.

Freshly Picked Crib Moccs, $45 // Sweet little moccasins for the tiniest toes. I love the gold ones for girls and the weathered brown ones for boys—Jack had a pair in that color when he was bitty and it was the cutest thing!!

Sharon Montrose Baby Animal Print, $25+ // These iconic Little Darlings are perfect for a new baby’s nursery. We’ve had 8 of them up in Jack’s room since we brought him home!

BKR Water Bottle, $35 // Hydration is so important during pregnancy and breastfeeding, so why not treat your friend with something special for her—a beautiful glass water bottle to make her water-drinking that much easier (and prettier)?

Anthropologie Gift Card, $TBD // The gift of pretty things of her choice! She can spend it now to make pregnancy even sweeter, or wait until her little bundle of joy has arrived and treat herself to something nice during that awkward postpartum season.

I had no idea about a shower vs a sprinkle. I always assumed that the sprinkle was a shower for a baby that was already born! Too funny! Those are great gift ideas though, for first or second time parents.

I just learned about it as my friends have had second babies!! So funny. My Southern friends call parties for babies who have already been born a “Sip & See”—because I guess you sip tea and coffee and see/snuggle the baby?
