Slowly But Surely

DSC_0132

Earlier this year my husband gave me a crazy idea to start making my own jewelry and selling it…assuming I actually could figure out how to make it, that is. Well, despite how seriously terrible I am at DIY projects, it turns out I sort of have a knack for jewelry-making. And I’m pretty dang obsessed with it now that I’ve gotten a taste of what it feels like to dream something up and make it with my own two hands.

I’ve shared several sneak peeks of my pieces on Instagram and just wanted to update you guys to let you know that we are in the process of all of the backend legal things that come with starting a small business and our goal is to have the shop up and running by October, just in time to start your holiday shopping!

Believe me when I say that I am so tempted to just ignore all of these business-y things and jump right on in, but I know that anything worth doing is worth doing the right way and I’m saving myself from a major tax and legal nightmare by just doing it all right from the start.

Obviously I’ll keep sharing sneak peeks and let you know the second we’re launching the shop—oh, and I for sure will be doing a giveaway to kick things off so stay tuned for that as well! Thanks to everyone who has encouraged me and affirmed that I’m not a total failure of a jewelry designer and maker. You’ve played a huge role in me deciding to take a leap and do this crazy thing!

Sign up here for updates on our launch, new products, giveaways and more.

P.S. The brand is just going to be my namesake, Natalie Borton, but I’ll refer to it in tags here on the blog as well as hashtags on social media as Shop Natalie Borton to avoid confusion between the brand and me as an actual person ;)

That’s so exciting, Natalie! I’ve noticed your handmade jewelry lately and have loved all the items. You can count me in on supporting your shop. I’ve been doing a little mini business planning and have something in the works as well. It’s so fun to dream and create, isn’t it?
