Well, time is just flying by isn’t it? I completely missed my month two update on my minimalism goals this year, so I’m just combining the last two months. Two months, one post. So minimalist of me ;)
Truth be told, I’ve done a lot more thinking about minimalism than actually implementing. Sure, I did get my pantry re-organized. And I have been a lot more diligent to toss things I know I don’t need. But I’ve also done a lot of shopping, so it all has evened out. I did start (and already finish!) reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, and it is totally challenging me to make big changes and dare to live with much less than I have right now.
I’ve realized that there are so many things I have around the house that I don’t ever use or even look at that are cluttering my space. The measure the author of the book recommends using when deciding whether to keep or discard something is also totally rocking my world. According to her, simply pick up the item and ask yourself, does this spark joy? If it does, keep it. If it doesn’t, it’s gone! Wild, but also could be pretty amazing. I mean, who doesn’t want to be surrounded by just the things that spark joy in their lives?
So, in a nutshell, I haven’t really done a great job at living out minimalism for the past two months, but I have grand plans for April. Stay tuned!
How are you doing with your word of the year?
