Santa Barbara Babymoon

Santa Barbara Babymoon | Thoughts By Natalie

If you follow me on Instagram, no doubt you’re oh-so-sick of seeing my vacation photos. If so, lucky you—I’m home and back to reality. But can I just say that we had the most amazing time? It was every bit as relaxing and pleasant as I’d hoped for.

Part babymoon, part belated anniversary trip, we went all out and stayed at the Belmond El Encanto in Santa Barbara. Brian coordinated everything, and he did a spectacular job. The concept of the babymoon is still relatively new, I think, but it’s one that I was really glad to get on board with. In essence, it’s sort of a last-hoorah vacation before your baby comes and travel becomes a lot more challenging.

All in all, it was by far the most relaxing trip we’ve ever taken (well, maybe tied with our honeymoon), and we’re already dreaming of the day we get to go back. Here’s a peek at our time away in Santa Barbara…

The view, plus the beautiful lobby/restaurant area. Love its East Coast vibe.

Poolside essentials: Arnold Palmer, aviators, and John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars (which I can’t stop reading!!)

The (salt water) pool: where we spent 95% of our daylight hours.

Nothing says luxury like a giant neck pillow in your hotel room.

First night at dinner—a mocktail for me, a G&T for Brian, and a decadent dessert (spiced chocolate cake with salted caramel gelato).

Espresso by the fireplace in our room. Perfect way to start the day.

Sunday morning reading in bed. A dreamy end to a dreamy getaway.

What does a relaxing getaway look like for you? Would you ever take (or have you taken) a babymoon?

First of all, I loved The Fault in Our Stars! Laughed, cried, and loved every bit of it. I read it with my book club and we all loved it. (Can’t wait to see the movie!) Secondly, no baby for us right now, but I think the idea of a babymoon sounds wonderful! What a great way to focus on your marriage and relax before things change. I’m on board!

Oh gosh, I can’t wait to see the movie! I’m planning to finish it in the next few days and then take myself to see it when it comes out. I’ll definitely be bringing tissues.

I absolutely LOVE this! My husband and I are way overdue for a vacation, ourselves. We’re going away for a week in August, and this makes me look forward to it that much MORE! I’m so glad you both had such a wonderful getaway together :)

What a lovely idea to take a time out from the craziness of preparing for babies arrival to just be together as a couple.

Love, love, love Fault in our Stars. I am rereading in preparation for the film coming out.

My friends and I just went a kid-free and husband-free weekend in Santa Barbara and loved it. Just such a fun place with such a mellow vibe. Glad it was so fun :) That hotel looks amazing.
