Faking the Glow

Can I be totally honest with you guys? For me, the pregnancy glow is totally a joke. Instead of radiant skin, my pregnancy face has become dull and acne-prone and pretty much the opposite of glowing. At first, I majorly freaked out, because I’m a wimp when it comes to skin and have literally never had acne. I had no idea what to do, and really struggled to figure out how to wear face makeup and still look natural.

I’m happy to say, in addition to a bit of my acne going away (thank God), I’ve discovered a simple secret to faking glowing, radiant skin that we all want, pregnant or not. Let me introduce you to the Sonia Kashuk Chic Luminosity Highlighter Stick. The creamy, pearl-infused formula creates an illuminated effect, making it easy to selectively highlight features or add a healthy glow to bare skin (or just-covered-up-with-foundation-out-of-necessity-skin). It’s like radiance in a stick, and I’m seriously addicted.

If you’ve never used highlighter before, welcome to the club—this was my first experience, too! Lucky for all of us, it’s super quick and easy to apply, and the strategy is foolproof, thanks to a nifty guide from a post about highlighting on the Sonia Kashuk blog, which says, “The secret to highlighting is exaggerating the sharpest areas of the face, making their shape more prominent.”

Don’t have a brush? You can totally use your fingers to blend it in.

Have you ever tried a highlighter for your face? What are your secrets to faking radiant, glowing skin?

P.S. The color I use is Sparkling Sands, but the Persian Sunset color offers a peachy tone that’s perfect for highlighting cheekbones.

Ugh, I found my skin was all over the place when I was pregnant! But I discovered Liz Earle’s hot cloth cleanser and it is so nourishing and gentle, I’m totally addicted. It works so well for combination skin, and really soothes acne. It makes my skin so soft. Now I’ve had the baby and am really tired (!) most of the time, I swear by a bit of Benefit’s Benetint to give colour to my cheeks and make me look a little more… human! ;)

    Natalie!!!
Thank you so much for you honesty about your preggo experience! I think it so important that we all realize that pregnancy is not all smiles, roses and giggles, but every moment is worth it. AND thats why they invented highlighter :) Another one that you might try is from make up forever. Its called uplight and you can buy it at sephora. I love it because it is a liquid and has a fresh pink color that gives you that dewy glow that we all love!
Hope all is well, congrats on the baby!!!
