The Simple Secret to Eating Healthy

Have you seen this illustrated short video featuring famous foodie and author Michael Pollan? I discovered it yesterday through CUP OF JO and knew immediately I wanted to share it here with you, just in case you don’t follow her blog.

It seems the secret to a healthy diet is so, so simple: just cook what you eat.

Intrigued? Watch Michael Pollan’s talk, “How Cooking Can Change Your Life,” in full here.

What do you think about this simple philosophy? Let’s discuss…

P.S. Easy homemade blueberry crisp, recipes I’ve tried and loved, and Pollan’s thoughts on Paleo eating,

Great video!! This is EXACTLY why I rarely eat out. Restaurants don’t care about your health; they care about making their food taste “good” so you come back for more. Personally, I don’t like fatty, salty foods, but I wasn’t always like that. When you are constantly eating processed foods, your taste buds adjust and aren’t as strong. But now that I eat healthy, when I eat something that has a lot of salt in it, I can’t take more than one bite–it’s too much for me and I get a stomach ache. The same thing goes with sugar. I’m so glad that I actually enjoy cooking. It’s really fun to be creative and discover new foods and dishes! Thanks for posting this, Natalie. I’m going to share it as well to spread the word!

Yay!! So glad you enjoyed this as much as I did. I personally hate cooking (more on that in a post coming soon), but I feel super convicted by the video, and also the entire audio recording of the talk/Q&A he did. It’s so good! I might even read his newest book, Cooked.

That’s really good. As a kid, I used to resent that we “never” went out to eat, but now that I’m older and into wellness, I’m so grateful I was raised by a “health nut.” :) Besides, cooking is fun!! Thanks for sharing.

The article on paleo eating is really interesting. After eating paleo for 6 months and feeling horrible, many different symptoms, I’m back to my plant rich and bread included diet and much happier. I do find sugar mucks up my system but grains are necessary for health for me.
