Colorado Recap

The climate in San Diego right now could not be more different that what we experienced in Colorado this weekend. That being said, the chilly, windy mountain air and peeks of white snow was just what I needed and wanted this month. It was nice to have a real reason to layer and wear boots, but most importantly it was just lovely to spend the whole weekend with our dear friends.

We arrived on Friday afternoon and headed to a coffee shop called The Cup on Pearl Street in Boulder, where Brian and I worked all afternoon until we met up with Erin and Dave for drinks, then dinner (homemade tomato soup!!) at their adorable apartment.

On Saturday we explored Boulder for hours, enduring some pretty serious winds, but happy to be out and about on a sunshiney day. We wandered around the CU campus, walked down Pearl Street, hopping in and out of shops to get a break from the wind.

Lunch on Saturday is perhaps one of the most notable parts of the weekend. Erin is the Director of Events for Frasca, which also owns Pizzeria Locale next door, so we got a full tour of the kitchen and both restaurants, then sat down for some serious eating at Pizzeria Locale. Let me just say, that meal will go down in history as one of my all-time favorites. If you’re visiting Boulder, go eat there. For real.

Extraordinarily full from out lunch, we took a napping and reading break back at Dave and Erin’s place for a bit, then settled in for the night with a lively game of UNO, sampling all kinds of chocolates from Chocolove (which is based in Boulder), and eventually some late-night Indian takeout when we finally got our appetites back.

Sunday morning I got a chance to have coffee with a dear friend from Pepperdine, then we all attended First Pres Boulder, where Dave works as the Director of University Ministries. Then, of course, came another awesome food opportunity: The Kitchen [Next Door] for brunch. Needless to say, it was a weekend of good eating.

The weekend came to a beautiful close in Denver with a happy hour get-together with three amazing women: Anne, Lauren and Aubrey. We talked blogging, marriage, and life and it was so, so special to connect face-to-face.

Overall, my heart feels so full from our weekend away and I’m already looking forward to another trip to Boulder when I get the chance!

Where have you traveled to recently?

Love the recap! I was in Boulder last August visiting family that actually attend First Pres Boulder. The downtown area is so fun and the backdrop of the Rockies can’t be beat! Can’t wait to go again and try some of the places you suggested.

I’m so glad you had a wonderful time! I can’t wait for another visit – unless a visit to San Diego comes first!
