DIY Gift Ideas

After compiling several gift lists featuring products to purchase for loved ones, I got to thinking—what about homemade gifts? Surely there are a lot of you who love to make your gifts at home and are looking for a few additional ideas this season—or at the very least, there’s a good handful of you who will forget to purchase gifts and need some last minute ideas ;)

So, with that in mind, I’ve rounded up a list of Christmas-gift-worthy DIY projects for you to try. Happy crafting!

1 // Gold Leaf Paper Mache Bowls
These gold-leafed bowls are so, so beautiful, don’t you think? Perfect as little jewelry holders.

2 // Bauble Necklace or Bib Necklace
Forget buying jewelry. Just make it! The necklace shown in the photo is the Bauble necklace, but I also really love Lauren’s bib necklace—she sent me one after she did the DIY and I love it!

3 // Memo Animals
Perfect for a friend who needs some cute office decor. Include some sweet little notes with the gift, too, just to make it extra special.

4 // Minimalist Tote Bag
This one is a seriously awesome gift, but pretty much only for ambitious gift-givers who can sew! That being said, it’s maybe the best gift on this list. Love it!

5 // Sharpie Mugs
This is simple and fun, and requires only a plain white mug, a sharpie and a little bit of time to bake in the oven. Make it personal, funny, sweet or artsy—it’s totally unique!

6 // Gold Mugs
Not into the sharpie thing? Give this gilded mug a try. I love the mix of gold metallic with white ceramic—it’s simple and chic (and I just might have to make one for myself).

7 // Polaroid Coasters
Use any photos you like to make a special gift for a beloved friend or family member. Make it personal with photos of you together, or opt instead for pretty landscape shots from vacations and daily life. It’s totally custom and entirely up to you.

8 // Key Fob
I don’t know about you, but I’m really into key fobs lately, so of course I think this is a brilliant gift idea. It’s also small and light, so it’s easy to ship to friends who don’t live nearby.

9 // Triangle Journal
For the friend who loves to write, create a custom journal with Mod Podge and magazine clippings. The triangle shapes make the whole thing feel modern (rather than a typical collage).

10 // Polka Dot Napkins
This is especially wonderful for friends who love to entertain.

11 // Gold Leaf Terracotta Pots
For the friend who won’t kill plants, these pots are a beautiful addition to any dwelling place.

12 // Homemade Makeup Remover
Every nature-loving beauty will adore this homemade concoction to remove makeup. It’s so simple, and you can get creative with the type of bottle you use to make it extra special.

13 // Canvas Art
Feeling artsy? Tap into your creative side and make your own canvas art. All you need is a paintbrush, pretty paint colors, a canvas, and some painter’s tape. The more imperfect, the better :)

14 // Imprinted Clay Bowls
These clay bowls are good for nearly everything—loose change, small pieces of jewelry, little candies on your desk. They’re both beautiful and useful.
