Twenty Seven in New York

Today is my birthday, and I’m tagging along on a business trip with Brian to New York this morning. I’ve only spent one day in New York, and it was several years ago on a big group trip, so this time I trust I’ll get to do much more personal exploring. Lucky for me, I have two days this time around, and several friends in the city who I’ll be spending time with throughout my second day there.

Tonight, Brian and I are headed to ABC Kitchen for a celebratory dinner. Then tomorrow—if all goes to plan—I’ll spend the morning with my friend Jenn, meet up with Ashley for lunch and a tour of the BuzzFeed offices where she works, and then grab some afternoon coffee with Libby before dinner with my hubby and his coworkers. All in all, a great couple of days if you ask me!

Later this week, we’ll visit my parents for a few days and also celebrate a much more significant birthday: my grandmother’s 90th! Overall, it’s vacation week on the east coast for me and I’m thrilled about it. Twenty seven is already feeling really lovely.

P.S. How I felt about turning 26. Also, some footage my dad posted on YouTube from a birthday previous—one when I wore white tights and had a very blonde bowl cut…

oh my god I’m SO HAPPY you’re going to ABC Kitchen! You will literally have THE BEST MEAL. save room for dessert- you cannot go wrong with their Salted Caramel Ice Cream Sundae. It’s not real.

Hey Kitten — What about the time our flight got canceled during Christmas week in Boston. The next flight available wasn’t for 4 days and you had to be at Lake Tahoe to ski with your college friends in 2 days.

Your ever-resourceful dad drove the rented Escalade to NYC (on my birthday, I might add) and took you and mom to the WTC, Times Square, and then to Long Island for dinner at that wierd steak house.

Of course, that was only the beginning of the adventure, since Karli killed your SUV and I ended up having to drive you to Tahoe too!

    Happy Birthday,
    Dad
