Sunday Sessions: Just Breathe

Sometimes, life just goes so fast. We work, we socialize, we eat, we sleep, and we just keep on going. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I forget to just sit back and breathe—sit back and soak in the beauty and privilege of being alive.

So, this morning I want to ask something very simple of you—I want you to just breathe for a few moments. I want you to let go of the worries and the to-do lists in the back of your mind, and all that’s difficult or frustrating about life right now. I want you to forget about work tomorrow and your unmade bed and your personal dramas. I want you to sit in a comfortable position, and just feel the air going in and out of your magnificent lungs.

If you’re like me, this won’t be an easy thing to do, so I’ve decided to provide a little assistance. Orange Sky by Alexi Murdoch just might be one of my favorite songs of all time, mostly because it has the power to calm me unlike any other song. I first heard it while studying abroad in Germany during my sophomore year in college, and it never ceases to help me feel grounded, safe, calm and at peace.

Are you ready? Sit back, relax, hit play, and just breathe…
