This month I’m making efforts to get more energy every day, and part of that has been starting to run again. Though my lungs are never too pleased thanks to my minor case of exercise-induced asthma, my body always thanks me for getting out there. I find that when I’m running regularly, I feel happier, sleep better, understand my hunger better, and am generally healthier. But one thing is not better—my hair.
While I usually can go up to three or four days without styling my hair again, running makes that impossible thanks to excessive amounts of sweat (and my refusal to blow dry my hair after showering). Over the years of my on-again, off-again relationship with running, I’ve learned that with a regular running routine comes the need to embrace messy hair. Anyone else?
I admit, sometimes this bad hair situation prevents me from lacing up my shoes and getting out there—but I’ve made a choice to not let that get to me anymore. At the end of the day, I’d rather be healthy than look pretty! So, here’s to embracing messy hair—and feeling awesome.
