Brian and I are heading home for the weekend to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family for the first time in three years. I can’t wait to spend quality time with people I love, lounge in the hot tub, and eat leftovers all weekend long. I’ll be off the radar through Monday, but until then I want to take a moment to quickly share some of the many things I’m thankful for this year:
- Brian’s love and friendship.
- My parents’ hospitality and generosity.
- Girlfriends that have become sisters.
- Good health.
- The opportunity to do work that I love.
It’s so easy to take life’s blessings for granted, and to write them off as good luck or coincidence. But I think it’s important—always, but especially this time of year—to recognize the gifts we’ve been given by God’s grace and provision, and to cultivate hearts of gratitude. After all, it’s not happy people who are thankful, but rather thankful people who live joyful lives regardless of circumstance.
What are you most thankful for this year?
